A majority of my day has gone into installing MetaTrader, configuring it, installing the EA Data Analyzer client, and setting up some initial demos. I’ve installed MetaTrader 50 times on my VPS (10 of each for Alpari UK, Forex.com, FXCM, FXDD, and IBFX). All 50 have been updated to the latest versions as well. Days like today remind me of what a pain in the butt all this is but I’m glad it’s behind me now.

Demos…

My initial demos are all running on Alpari UK. There are 6 demos (AshFX H4, AshFX D1, AshFX II H4, AshFX II D1, MyFutureBAT H4, and MyFutureBAT D1) all with default values for the most part. The only changes I’ve really made in the settings are turning on Money Management for 3%. For the MyFutureBAT demos I’ve configured a large take profit and have decided on all demos to let the EAs manage the exits with no trailing stops other than PSAR with AshFX systems and the BAT line with MyFutureBAT. Several trades have already been placed and all information is being uploaded to my server with the EA Data Analyzer client. I will be expanding my testing to include other EAs and brokers over time but feel I’ve accomplished enough for right now.

I look forward to completing the Analysis website and finding out what works and what doesn’t. I also thank all those who have chosen to contribute by downloading my client and are now uploading active trade data along with my own. Over time I have big plans and am excited to see how it all unfolds.

If you haven’t already heard about the EA Data Analyzer then you’re missing out on something great. The client application was just released today and is the first step to getting trade data onto the MTaboneWebForex server.

Why is this important?

It means no one has to post their results manually anymore and those who are too shy to have done it in the past can now have it done automatically for them. With all the setups and demos that users are running this will give us all a much clearer picture on what’s working and what’s not. This client application runs as a Windows service on your computer and uploads trade data including EA configuration at the time a trade is placed, lots, take profit, stop loss, and a mountain of other useful information. This data is loaded into a SQL database and a complete web-interface is soon to be released which will allow anyone to view the trade data complete with filtering to narrow down exactly what you want to see.

The code for logging has been added to the AshFX, AshFX II, BreakoutSentinel, DailyHighLow, DailyHighLowReverse, PipNailer, RollerCoaster, SynergyMethod, TossUp, and WeeklyOpen EAs.

Well, after a very frustrating week I’ve finally worked through the Client side application (the part that runs on your computer). I ran into some road blocks that forced me to do things differently so I wanted to explain the new process. The application is still a service that will run on your computer. This service kicks off every 60 minutes and uploads the text log files to my server. After that everything else happens on my side (splitting the data, adding it to the SQL database, etc.). There is no longer going to be a local database for a number of reasons. The data will get large quickly increasing the space required, issues with updating, sync issues between a local database and database on the internet.

My next step is to add all the logging code to the existing EAs. Once that is completed then I will release them and the client side application which will start uploading data to my server for anyone who chooses to participate. The EA settings will remain the same as previously described in this thread but I will be adding another parameter (user). This will be helpful in sorting reports so you can view your own results and/or others as well.

For a limited time, I’ve decided to reduce the cost for a Lifetime membership on my forums. Lifetime membership gives users access to download my Expert Advisors. I’ve decided to do this since some members are having a hard time financially right now and have expressed an interest in becoming a Lifetime member but have been unable to at this time. The Lifetime membership has been dropped from $200 to $100 for a short time. Registering on the forums is and always will be free but access to download the actual EAs carries with it a fee. By paying this one-time fee (Lifetime membership fee) you will be given access to download all existing EAs and any future EAs that will be developed. Since the site went live back in August 2008, I’ve gone from 6 EAs to a total of 13 right now and have plans to continue developing new EAs on a regular basis. Updates, enhancements, bug fixes, etc. are all included in the Lifetime membership.

Over the past several months there have been issues with my EAs and how they perform on brokers with an additional digit of precision like Alpari. Much time has been spent resolving these issues and I’m now pleased to announce that many bugs have been worked out of the EAs. In addition, there have been revisions to money management and other items as well. Every Expert Advisor listed below has been revised…

AshFX, AshFX II, BreakoutSentinel, DailyHighLow, DailyHighLow Reverse, GrabMyOrders, MyFutureBAT, PipNailer, ProfitLossTally, RollerCoaster, SynergyMethod, TossUp, and WeeklyOpen.

I just wanted to let everyone know that great progress is being made with the AshFX, AshFX II, and PipNailer EAs. Most of the problems as of lately have been due to the addition of money management and the fact that what the EA starts with may be different in the background based on money management calculations. Basically it had a ripple affect on the way these EAs handled open orders and what needed to be done with them during certain stages.

Anyways, the good news is they are well on their way to being rock solid again and I hope to be uploading the newest revisions in the next couple of days. The latest demos I’m running are FXDD and Alpari UK with the same pairs and settings to match activity and how the EA performs with both types of brokers (the extra precision in Alpari).

I don’t like to release panic revisions to fix bugs so I hope you’ll forgive me while I get things tested 100%.

Expert Advisors that now include money management are AshFX, BreakoutSentinel, DailyHighLow, DailyHighLow Reverse, MyFutureBAT, PipNailer, RollerCoaster, SynergyMethod, and WeeklyOpen. Also, version numbering has been revised to more easily track changes to the EAs.

I know it’s been a long wait but I’ve just completed some new and exciting revisions to the AshFX and PipNailer EAs. These changes include money management, additional blackout hour settings, and new percentage settings that allow the user to adjust the percentage for take profits and stop losses. User can now configure the EA to take 55% of the suggested take profit and risk only 60% of the stop loss. Users can even increase percentages to values greater than 100% (i.e. take 125% of the suggested take profit rather than 100%). These revisions open up to two Expert Advisors to even more possibilities.
